On today’s #FruitFamFriday feature: celebrity trainer and media personality Joey Thurman. Joey is a health, fitness and nutrition expert, and television host. He specializes in helping everyone from action stars to busy parents meet their fitness goals with his high-performance personal training programs. Joey is the author of365 Health and Fitness Hacks That Could Save Your Life, and the host ofThe Fad or Future podcast. Today, he joins us to talk fruit, fitness and 2021 goals.
I grew up playing all sorts of sports where hockey was my main game. I played through college and knew I wanted to do something in fitness, but at the time, training wasn’t a career. I ended up meeting a Physiology professor at my college my senior year and he took me under his wing and helped me become a trainer. After that I packed up my yellow mustang convertible (yes, yellow) and took a job as a trainer in Chicago at a corporate gym.

Take care of your mind first. I love working out and eating well but if you don’t take care of what’s between the ears you will never succeed in life. I really try to focus on my mind and my WHY in life! I workout to feel good. not only mentally but physically as well. Working out has become my antidepressant and motivation to stay healthy for my family. I love being the dad who can chase around a toddler for hours!
